Artist Statement
Jennifer Moorhead
I am an abstract landscape painter living on my horse farm in Kentucky, where my art passion for capturing the dynamic interplay of colors and light thrives. Every day, I draw inspiration from the breathtaking landscape, channeling that energy into my artwork. I aim to infuse each piece with vibrant colors and shapes that bring life and joy to the viewer.
Drawing inspiration from ‘The Group of Seven’ and the works of Wolf Kahn and Richard Diebenkorn. Their innovation approaches to color and composition excite my creative process. I visually express Kentucky’s landscape’s unique essence and beauty by incorporating vibrant hues and dynamic abstract imagery. I create a sense of tactile depth through layering techniques, ensuring that each brushstroke is infused with virality and energy.
As an artist and educator, my life has been deeply intertwined with the arts. I hold a Master of Fine Arts in Painting from the University of Maryland and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from Western Michigan University. For over 34 years, I have passionately shared my expertise as a Fine Art Professor in Texas, Indiana, and Colorado while exhibiting on a regional, national, and international level. I continue to show my artwork on professional platforms.
