Artist Statement

Mark Katsumi Kimura

Mark Katsumi Kimura is a Japanese/American photographer based out of Nashville, TN.  He specializes in live music photography where he did a year-long project called “;52 Weeks of Music City”;  This involved shooting a different band each week (for the whole year) and writing a review of the band. He recently completed a new project called “Project 365” where he took a different photo each day for the whole year.  Each day had its own theme.  This project was to build consistency on developing perfect composition and studying the mathematical pillars of photography.

Kimura has been featured in magazines and has been interviewed by NPT (Nashville Public Television) and by multiple other podcasts.  He has finished a photojournalism book and is working on developing his second.  The next big project is being created and will be announced soon.
